Physiotherapy

Our facility has a fully equipped physiotherapy center where specialized personnel deal with serious problems, such as:

Stroke

In cases of vascular stroke, some harmful factors are responsible, such as hypertension, heart problems or diabetes. The first stage of the physiotherapy starts from the first 24hours and lasts for days or even weeks. In this case the treatment must start in the first 24hours. So we encourage the early mobilization as soon as the patient’s vital signs have stabilized. It is also very important the proper initial positioning of the patient since the frequent changes of his position may prevent thrombosis, pneumonia or pressure ulcers.

At the second stage, our goal is to preserve motion, to maintain the range of motion, ensure the proper positioning of the patient within their environment, something that is important for the preserving and enhancing his functionality, to reinforce the right movements and avoid pathological ones. At the third stage, the recovery, which is the last part of physiotherapy, we focus on body balance. The training of the balance starts with the changes of the patient’s posture first in bed then on chair and as long as the patient can support his body, we stand him up on the walking treadmill. Afterwards, our goal is the patient to be able to walk with the aid of a cane and to enhance his balance as much as possible through special exercises.

Respiratory problems

The elderly are especially vulnerable to all respiratory diseases. Elderly people who face respiratory problems develop complication more often than younger people, either due to illnesses to other organs or due to lung problems at the same time. Physiotherapy is needed to reinforce the respiratory muscles, to reduce the number of tasks the respiratory muscles perform and as a result to reduce the need for oxygen.

Fractures

Our goal in this case is the patient to come back to his condition he was before the fracture, something that is possible for every patient regardless of their age. Physiotherapy starts from the day the patient is admitted to our facility, with escalating difficulty exercises. At first, he walks with the aid of a medical walker, then with a cane and at the end without any help. This goal will be achieved with a program of strengthening all muscular groups around the injured joint and afterwards with a postural control program by a progressively increasing level of difficulty. As you can see we focus on walking with stable upright posture, the ability to motivate body beyond the basic position, the ability to move from one position to the other and the ability to balance when moving or staying still. The last program is followed by all patients in our facility for the prevention of fallings, in a group program that is held day after day. In this particular program we perform stretching exercises, balance and maintenance of all movements of the joints, muscle strengthening and mobility checking, while at the same time we train the ability of resistance.

Cardiovascular diseases

Cardiovascular diseases such as myocardial infarction are treated with specialized rehabilitation programs. Our primary aim is to motivate and encourage the patient as fast as possible. However, many times after cases of heart disease, people fail to comply with a rehabilitation program, which is a mistake, since it will improve at a great extend the patient’s quality of life.

Musculoskeletal disorders

Musculoskeletal disorders such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and osteoporosis are very common in elderly people. In our well equipped center the use of ultrasound and electrotherapy helps the patient to deal with these disorders.

The physiotherapy center provides:

  • Tilt table
  • Electric patient hoist
  • Electrotherapy, ultrasound and ultraviolet devices
  • Stationary bike
  • Electric treadmill
  • Step
  • Multifunctional ladder
  • Passive and active mobilization bike for upper and lower limbs, particularly helpful for individuals with mobility difficulties (tetraplegia, spastic diplegia)
  • Balance treadmill
  • Wheel
  • Pulley
  • Finger ladder
  • Wrist exercise machine
  • Parallel bars for gait training
  • Weights
  • Exercise balls
  • Resistance bands

The equipment is portable, allowing it to be easily transported to patients’ rooms when they are unable to attend the physiotherapy center.

Electric Motorized Adjustable Bed – Tilt Table

The aim of our center is to promote the mobilization of our patients in order to prevent pressure ulcers, muscle shortening, and joint contractures.

Our goal is to help each patient achieve functional independence.

Our facility is equipped with an electric motorized adjustable bed (tilt table), which plays a vital role in the rehabilitation process.

The tilt table enables upright positioning for individuals with neurological and musculoskeletal conditions. It is an essential piece of equipment in rehabilitation centers for patients who are unable to stand independently, such as those with various forms of paralysis, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, or those recovering from hip and knee arthroplasty.

Benefits:

  • Gradual mobilization of the patient to stabilize vital signs
  • Patient standing training to improve the function of all body systems
  • Gradual weight-bearing of the lower limb following hip or knee surgery

Electric Patient Lifting Hoist

Recognizing the need for the daily transfer of individuals with disabilities, our center has been equipped with an electric patient lifting hoist, which is an essential aid in the care of patients with severe mobility impairments.
This device facilitates the safe lifting, transfer, and repositioning of patients to and from the bed, preventing injuries and ensuring proper body positioning and comfort.
